FBC SHERIDAN STUDENT MINISTRY

Grades 7 - 12

The Student Ministry of First Baptist Sheridan is first and foremost committed to loving God supremely (Mark 12:29-30). Secondly, we are committed to loving one another (church family) and others (lost world) as ourselves (Mark 12:31). Lastly, we seek to follow the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus by making disciples. Making disciples involves evangelizing unbelievers, baptizing believers, and teaching them to obey all of God’s Word.

The primary way our Student Ministry partners with parents is through our Circle of Discipleship. The first step on our circle is to Magnify God Together. Each of our students is encouraged to attend Worship Services with their families on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. Then, each Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. students participate in games or some sort of team-building activity, followed by Scripture memory and prayer. At 7:00 p.m. students are engaged with God’s Word by one of our leaders.

The second step is to Mature in Community. Gender-based Bible Study groups meet each Sunday at 10:45 a.m. Students pray, discuss, and are challenged to live transformed according to God’s Word by God’s Spirit.

The third step is to Minister to Others. Students commit to one of the many ways in which they can minister to our church family and the lost world. The best ways for students to serve is by being a part of one of the following Teams: The Connect Team, Food Pantry, Mid-Week Meal, Praise Band, or the On-Mission Team. Being on a Team allows students to use their God-given gifts, talents, abilities, and passions to advance His Kingdom.

The final step is through Making Disciples. Students commit to a weekly Disciple-Making Group which meets each Sunday at 5:00 p.m. Our student D-Groups are gender specific and hold each other accountable in their devotion to Christ, development in Christlikeness, and deployment to make disciples. D-Groups spend the bulk of their time discussing what they gleaned through God’s Word by following our Church’s Bible Reading Plan, which is designed for the entire family.

We believe there is no better place to learn about building a relationship with Jesus than here at First Baptist Student Ministry. We are creating an environment each and every week where students can experience God and follow Him.

PARENTS: Here, at First Baptist Sheridan, we want more for the next generation. Parents, we want to invite you to join us on a Wednesday night, too. We also want to partner with you to help your student become the man or woman God is calling him or her to be. The best way to do that is for us to stay connected.
